The Occupational Health requirements as laid down by the Department of Health seem more than a little daunting at first, but if you have worked within the NHS before you may have a lot of this already. If not, our Occupational Health partners will help identify exactly what’s needed and your local GP can arrange any necessary immunisations.
Here’s a list of which immunisations you need to provide evidence of as required by the DoH:
Non-Exposure Prone Procedures (Non-EPP)
- Varicella
- Tuberculosis
- Rubella, Measles & Mumps
- Hepatitis B
Evidence is given by GP or OH Department Certificate or Serology reports, which must be stamped by the place of issue to prove they are genuine.
Exposure Prone Procedures (Non-EPP)
- Hepatitis B, Surface Antigen
- Hepatitis C
- HIV
All Serology Reports for EPP areas must be issued in the UK and be stamped by the place of issue to prove they are genuine. The result should also state/be stamped IVS (Identified Validated Samples) for EPP clearance. This is to check the identity of the Locum at the time of the test and involves the locum showing their passport, or some other form of photographic ID. This will then be checked by the laboratory and noted on the report with either a stamp or printed confirmation.
What if I cannot provide the evidence above?
Firstly review what you do have and if your not sure if what you have meets the Department of Health criteria then send it through to one of our compliance experts and we will then be able to advise you as its suitability and your next steps.
Before we can offer you work we will require you to supply us with valid documentary evidence, but you have some options here to:
Option 1
Go to your occupational health department and organise the missing immunisations you require.
Option 2
If you’re not part of an institution with an occupational health department, you can click here and find your nearest Department of Health Occupational Health Department. You can give them a call to organise your immunisations.
Option 3
You can call any private Occupational Health provider to organise immunisation.
